DORA - When a next door girl is chased by a car possessed by spirit for a reason, her life takes turns.
Nayanthara, proves that she is undoubtedly the Lady Super Star of Kollywood. She now and again proves she could steal the show alone and holds a strong charisma on screen. The slow walk with an astounding BGM is a fan blast moment. Said that, the script didn’t give her big space for performance though she has done justice to what was given for her. Moving forward if she takes up scripts for solo leads with a considerable scope for acting too, she could go places. If you are a Nayanthara fan, there is a treat on big screens with DORA for you.
Thambi Ramaya, his rib ticklers work very less in this. He should reconsider exploring different scripts than sticking to his comfort zone. He has done a good job on the emotional part as a lovable father. Harish Uthaman, an intelligent cop has delivered a commendable performance.
Doss Ramasamy, the debut director must be appreciated for attempting a horror (a) thriller in a new way from the usual. His writing is appreciable in the flashback and moves the audience to tears. But his dialogues and screenplay writing needs a lot of improvement, as it lacks the needed energy to keep audience intact. Good job, but could have been done better.
Vivek and Mervin’s background score is the top notch element of the second half. They elevate the average screenplay to the next level and makes us satisfied having seen a good film at the end. The massy action sequences of Nayanthara gets live wire by the BGM. “Enga Pora Dora”, a hit number has been done justice with right placement and cute visuals. VFX department takes credit for the one surprise element which can’t be much talked about here.
On a whole, DORA is not a spine chilling horror but a watch worthy thriller with a Nayanthara energy-blast.
